Abstract
Fast-switching liquid crystal Pancharatnam-Berry (PB) optical elements for near-eye and head-up displays are reviewed. A submillisecond-response PB deflector helps double the apparent resolution and enable foveated display with eye-tracking. A PB lens enables time-and polarization-multiplexed multi-focal-plane displays to overcome the vergence-accommodation conflict.
