N2 - For platform integrated antennas, the effects of the platform on the antenna performance need to be considered in their simulations for better accuracy. In this letter, the half-space multilevel fast multipole method (MLFMA) is incorporated into characteristic mode analysis (CMA) technique for platform-integrated antennas. Numerical studies verify the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed approach, and this approach provides a candidate for the platform antenna design, synthesis, and integration in the coming 5G era.
