Abstract

The dynamic milling force model of face milling and the cutting force coefficients model were established. The experiments of face milling 38CrSi high-strength steel were conducted to investigate the effect of the cutting parameters and their interactions on the cutting force coefficients by using partial least square method. The result shows that, under the given cutting parameters, the dynamic milling forces model and the cutting force coefficients model could be used to analyze the milling performance with high accuracy. Moreover, the parameter of feed per tooth is the most important factor to contribute milling force coefficients and the axial depth of cut comes second, while the effect of cutting speed is the minimum. In addition, the interactions among the cutting parameters could be neglected.
