Abstract

To explore the economy and emission characteristics of Atkinson cycle internal combustion engine, a test was carried out for an Atkinson cycle internal combustion engine with a high compression ratio at the wide open throttle condition and the engine operating point commonly used. The test results show that, while torque outputs reduce by 5%, the brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) was decreased by 5%~8%. When the engine was fixed at 2000 r/min, 0.2 MPa and 3000 r/min, 0.3 MPa, the PMEP was decreased by 34% and 24%, the BSFC was decreased by 9% and 7.5%. The lower the load, the more obviously the PMEP decreases. For the emission characteristics, NOx was decreased by 65% and 31.5%, HC was increased by 23% and 27%.
