Abstract

In order to study the transient response of spark discharge ignition temperature, we established a colorimetric temperature measurement system based on a high-energy electric ignition system, and performed a series of spark discharge experiments at energy levels of 10 J, 100 J and 1 kJ. After calibrating the transient response time of the colorimetric temperature measurement system, we used the system to measure peak temperature, duration of high-temperature, and transient characteristics of spark temperature during spark discharges at the three energy levels. The results show that the Si/Ge colorimetric temperature measurement system has response time of 16 μs, which meets the needs of transient response in spark temperature measurement. The peak temperatures of spark discharges at all three energy levels exceeds 3000℃. Increasing ignition energy slightly increases the peak temperature, but significantly increases high-temperature duration and high-temperature area. The obtained results of spark temperature's transient response is reference for further understanding the energy structure of spark ignition and for calculating effective energy of ignition.
