title = "Experimental, numerical and analytical studies on two linear demolition shape charges for two initiation modes",
abstract = "In this paper, we present experimental, numerical and analytical studies on linear demolition charges (LDC). Two types of LDCs were selected with 90 and 120 degree copper liners named D1 and D2 respectively, both of throat width 50-mm and length 100-mm. Two modes of initiation were employed namely one point side ways (OPSW) and one point top center (OPTC). The 90-degree design was experimentally tested to get X-ray images and penetration into steel. Numerical simulations were then performed for both designs using Lagrange and SPH processors in Autodyn 3D. Based on experimental and numerical investigations, a methodology namely, angle of impact is presented which correlates the effectiveness of the mode of initiation with the angle of impact which copper jet makes with the target. OPTC initiation mode is found to be more effective than OPSW for both designs based on experimental and simulative evidences and supported by angle of impact methodology.",
