Abstract

Aim To study the characteristics of the response of flexible beams activated by the moving rigid body. Methods Theoretic analysis of the response of flexible beams activated by the moving rigid body was given and numerical solutions and experiment results were obtained in the case of a beam with one end simply supported, the other end free and the middle supported by the joint. Results The displacement response and the acceleration response were simulated, the displacement response and the acceleration response of the beam terminal were tested in different moving cases of the moving rigid body. Conclusion The vibration response of the beam is non-periodic and the relationship between the velocity of moving rigid body and the response of the beam is obtained.
