Abstract

The source number estimation is an important issue in space spectrum estimation. However, the performance of traditional estimation algorithms will degrade severely when applied into colored noise. To overcome this problem, a new method based on power-inversion and adaptive threshold is proposed. In the proposed method, the power-inversion algorithm is firstly applied to form array beam pattern with nulls in the direction of sources. Subsequently, the beam pattern is modified and the adaptive threshold is determined by sliding window processing for the modified beam pattern. Finally, the number of sources is obtained through finite difference method. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been verified by numerical simulations.
