Abstract

Attitude measurement technique is key to many application systems such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, autonomous underwater vehicles and dead reckoning of GPS system etc. In order to improve the performance of the attitude measurement system, a 3 DOF (Degree of Freedom) low cost miniature attitude measurement system that is composed of dual accelerometers and three magnetoresistive sensors is studied and its attitude measurement algorithm is described, the errors of the proposed attitude measurement system are analysed and an iterative compensation method for alignment error of the accelerometers is presented, the influence of the tilt measurement errors on the accuracy of the measurement system is also analysed. Simulation results show the correctness of theoretical analysis and the feasibility of the application of the proposed compensation method in the design of actual attitude measurement system.
