Abstract

Equivalent scattering centers of dielectric objects are investigated in this work. Based on scattering mechanisms and the ray theory, the locations of equivalent scattering centers of dielectric objects are derived. Two canonical objects, cuboid and sphere, are investigated as exemplary targets. The extracted scattering centers are validated by image signatures shown in time-frequency representations (TFRs) and the high resolution range profile (HRRP) respectively.
