Abstract

Cavities are strong scattering part in aircrafts. How to efficiently coat cavities with electromagnetic (EM) absorbing materials to reduce backscattering is a significant issue in low observable aircraft design. In this letter, a variety of cavities are analyzed by an optimized discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method based on self-dual integral equation (SDIE). The scattering characteristics for various coated cavities are studied and some useful guide for coating cavities are presented.
