Abstract

In this paper, the 3.5 vol.%TiB reinforced TC4 (Ti6Al4V) matrix composites were successfully fabricated using a mechanical ball milling and spark plasma sintering. The sintering temperature, sintering pressure and holding time were 700 °C∼1100 °C, 40 MPa and 5 min, respectively. The 3.5 vol.% TiB/ TC4 matrix composites. The relative density of 3.5 vol.% TiB/TC4 composites increases with the increase of sintering temperature, and reaches saturation when the sintering temperature is 900 °C. The size of α-Lamellae increases from 1.47 μm to 2.44 μm with the increase of sintering temperature. The aspect ratio of TiB whiskers first increase and then decreases along with the solution time extending.
