Abstract

The quasi-static compressive properties and the fracture morphology of 4 kinds of porous SiC ceramics/Zr-base amorphous alloy composites were investigated with the WDW-E100D testing machine and the S-4800 scanning electronic microscope(SEM). The results suggested that the preparation decided the quasi-static mechanic properties of porous SiC ceramics/Zr-base amorphous alloy composite. The best parameter showed that the Zr-base amorphous alloy was cast at 860°C and kept 6 minutes after cast. The fracture mode of the composite showed brittle fracture under the quasi-static compress load. The fracture morphology characteristics included the cleavage steps appear in ceramic and the Zr-base amorphous alloy with thin vein pattern and ridge vein pattern.
