Abstract

Wind tunnel experiments were conducted to study the aerodynamic characteristics of the grid fins. A series of wind tunnel experiment models with various grid fins having the same chord, same frame, different grid number, different thickness of grid wall and different angle of grid wall leading edge were designed and used in studying the influence of the grid number, the thickness of grid wall and the angle of grid wall leading edge to its aerodynamic characteristics. Based on the test data, the method of how to select the grid fin's geometric parameters, and the requirement of material and construction design that suitable for the gliding extend range guided weapon, are put forward.
