Abstract
The effect of transition metal oxide on thermal degradation process of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was studied. Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS) and cone calorimetry (CONE) techniques were employed to investigate the effects of Cu20 on the flame thermal degradation process of PVC. It is found that the existence of Cu20 can promote PVC to release HC1 more easily, increase the amount of charring in PVC and inprove the flame retardancy of PVC.
