Abstract

The effect of Baogan Yihao (BGYH) on hepatic fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) and high fat diet in rats was studied in this paper. Liver fibrosis was induced by CCl4-soybean and high fat diet for 6 weeks, and BGYH preparation (600 mg/mL, 300 mg/kg, 150 mg/kg) was administered to the model group for 17 days. The results show that BGYH relieved fatty degeneration and hyperplasia in liver. BGYH can lower aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), increase serum albumin (ALB), reduce the hyaluronic acid (HA), hydroxyproline (Hyp) and type I collagen protein (Col I) in livers. BGYH can lower transaminase level, improve liver function, reduce steatosis and fibrosis in liver. Therefore, BGYH has a significant effect on liver fibrosis.
