Dynamics simulation and experimental verification for a racing car orientating FSAE competition

Abstract

A multi-body dynamics virtual prototype for BIT's 2010 FSAE racing car was completed with the consideration of aerodynamic factors. A race course model of the endurance race for 2010 China FSAE competition was built. The race processes of straight-line acceleration and the first circle of endurance race of BIT's 2010 FSAE racing car were simulated under ADAMS/Car software environment. Comparing the simulation data with measured data of race car velocity, body longitudinal acceleration and body lateral acceleration, the consistence of two sets of data was shown. The accuracy of the multi-body dynamics virtual prototype for BIT's 2010 FSAE racing car has been verified.
