Abstract
Dressing experiments on large diameter diamond dish grinding wheel were carried out by using three kinds of dressing tools-diamond powder sintered bar, Diamond(D) cup wheel and green carbide (GC) cup wheel. Studies were made with the circumferential flatness and the radial flatness of the wheel face as the evaluation criterion of dressing efficiency, and with the tooth precision of the hard alloy slotting cutter as the evaluation criterion of the dressing effect. According to the dressing principle and model, the main factors which affect the dressing efficiency and dressing quality were analyzed. The results show that the tiny cutting frequency of the diamond grain on the diamond dish wheel and the direction of the dressing force, have much effect with the dressing efficiency; dressing quality is affected by the moving acting on the diamond dish wheel, the more uniform the moving is, the better the dressing quality will be. Diamond grinding wheel dressed with D cup wheel or diamond powder sintered bar could be used for finish grinding; diamond grinding wheel dressed with GC cup wheel could be used for coarse grinding or semi-finish grinding; the dressing method of D cup wheel + GC cup wheel has superior dressing efficiency and dressing quality, it is a dressing method which can be broadly used.
