Abstract

In this paper, the asymptotic average bit error probability (ABEP) is analytically analyzed for a spatial scattering modulation (SSM) in millimeter-wave (mmWave) MIMO system. An asymptotic union upper bound on the ABEP of the SSM system is obtained in a closed-form. On this basis, the achievable diversity gain of the SSM system is characterized. Simulation results demonstrate the tradeoff between spectral efficiency and ABEP performance, where the impacts of wireless channel properties and modulation order on the performance of SSM systems are investigated.
