Abstract

According to the development requirements of CA-475Q hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) engine, and by using software GT-POWER, a simulation model for the gasoline engine is built, whose rationality is then verified by test on the data of external characteristics. Then based on the principle of Atkinson cycle, the compression ratio and valve timing of the model are optimized. On this basis, the engine is modified and its performance is tested on bench. The results show that the modified engine meets the requirements of HEV on engine performance.
