Abstract

The geometry of a Halbach magnet is ideal for use as a magnetic field source in a table-top nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer. But the magnetic field of an unmodified Halbach magnet is not sufficiently homogeneous to allow observation of a nuclear magnetic resonance signal. In this paper, the saddle coils, which are used in the superconducting magnet, are introduced into the shimming of Halbach magnet. For the development of high resolution table-top NMR spectrometer, the special cylinder shim coils comprised of saddle coils are designed to improve the homogeneity of the transverse magnetic field of Halbach magnet.
