Design of a novel RF BP filter using left hand meta-material

Abstract

RF BP filter using Left Hand Meta-material is introduced. The theory and trait of Left Hand Meta-material is disused, and at the same time, theoretical model of the Left Hand Meta-material transmission line is analyzed. Based on these, the cell structure of Left Hand Meta-material is proposed. The area of BP filter is 500 μm × 180 μm. The bandwidth 17.2 GHz. Meanwhile, simulation of the theory model and cell structure using Microwave Office is made use of. Results of simulation are analyzed and compared. This design reduced the area and volume of the devices compared to the traditional. And this technology can be widely used to each filed of RF/MMIC.
