Design and performance analysis of the static seal structure of a vaned damp

Abstract

To get the static sealing performance of a vaned damp and find a valid method to solve the O-ring seal nonlinear problem which can be used in design. Based on the performance of the vaned damp and static seal, simulation about the O-ring seal in the vaned damp was applied by the nonlinear finite element analysis method. The factors influencing sealing performance were considered, such as initial compressibility, sealing materials and groove width. Applying the method, the seal structure was designed and optimized. The O-ring seal structure in the paper passed the vehicle reliability experiment. The method of design for the O-ring seal structure in the vaned damp is proved valid.
