Abstract

In this study, a new type nozzle-flapper pressure proportional valve driven by a voice coil motor is designed. In order to improve the dynamic response of pressure proportional valve, a voice coil motor (VCM) with high response speed is used to drive the flapper. Meanwhile, a fuzzy self-tuning proportion-integration-differentiation (PID) controller is designed to realize good static and dynamic characteristics. Experimental results show high performance of the designed pressure proportional valve. The steady-state errors are within 1.8% and the response times are within O.2Ss for step signals.
