Abstract

The design of scanning mode is of significant meaning for synthetic aperture radars (SAR). Compared with conventional mechanical scanning, the two-dimensional non-uniform scanning mode based on the electronic control to obtain wide swath and uniform resolution is studied in this paper. Thus, it can eliminate the attitude disturbance of the radar platform more effectively. The procedure of electronic scanning mode is devised under the limits of attitude, resolution, swath and so on. In addition, the resolution characteristic of the system is analyzed under the scanning condition for the squinted SAR. A series of simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of this scanning method.
