Abstract

The technology of digital image processing has been used in this research to build an accurate geometric model for numerically simulating the process of membrane separation. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) image of membrane was processed by the measures of grey level transformation, median filtering, image segmentation, edge detection and vectorization. As a result, the structural parameters of membrane such as porosity and margin vector map were obtained. It is indicated that the cross-section image of membrane after image processing could present the structural information inside membrane with high accuracy.
