Abstract

To study the influence of the sinter temperature and the fiber volume fraction on the properties of the composites, BAS and MAS glasses were chosen as matrixes. The process of slurry impregnate and hot pressing was applied to the KD- 1 SiC fiber reinforced glass ceramic matrix composites. The bending strength and the fracture toughness are 494.1 MPa and 18- 28 MPa m1/2 for SiCf/BAS, 538- 7 MPa and 16. 70 MPa · m1/2 for SiCf/MAS. The failure mechanisms of the composites were studied.
