Abstract

In this letter, a triple-layer transmitarray element is proposed, which can generate 3-bit quantization phase shifts at 77 GHz. A triple-layer circular TA (transmitarray) with a rotating feed and a TA with a horizontal moving feed are designed using the proposed 3-bit transmitarray element. For the two TAs, a global search method GA (genetic algorithm) is applied to optimize the element phase for a better beam scanning performance, and a CST-MWS simulation has been carried out to prove the method. According to the simulation results of the two optimized TAs, choosing a curved track or a linear track can be decided on the actual beam scanning requirements.
