Abstract

Two-phase flow equations are studied and a compaction wave model established. The model is used to analyze steady compaction waves in a porous bed of highenergy solid propellant. The parameters of compaction zone are obtained from the model. The structure of the compaction wave is also studied. It is shown that there exist a shock preceding the compaction wave for supersonic compaction waves, but no leading shock exists for subsonic compaction waves.
