Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To synthesize and analyze the novel enteric-coating material HPMCAS. METHODS: The structure and properties of HPMCAS were analyzed by IR, UV, TGA and chemical analysis. The solubility of HPMCAS in organic solvents was tested. The viscosity curves in the acetone-ethanol-water system, tensile strength and ultimate elongation of free films prepared by HPMCAS were determined, and HPMCAS was compared with AS-LG. RESULTS: The contents of acidic succinyl groups and acetyl groups in HPMCAS were related with the addition of two anhydrides. The dichloromethane-ethanol system was the excellent solvent for HPMCAS. HPMCAS was stable below 200 T and lose weight quickly over 200 °C. CONCLUSION: The physical and chemical properties of HPMCAS were almost the same as those of AS-LG.
