Abstract

Porous B4C ceramic was produced through microwave sintering technique by using pure boron carbide powder. A thermal insulation container, of our own design, was adopted during sintering process to reduce the heat loss. The effects of the relative density of green body on the porosity, mechanical property and microstructure of the as prepared samples were investigated. The application of microwave sintering technique was helpful to the preparation of the porous B4C ceramic.
