Abstract

Due to the feature of multi-mode with various speech coding rates, channel coding scheme for adaptive multi-rate (AMR) standard is more complicated than traditional single mode speech codec. In this paper, two unequal protection (UEP) schemes: convolutional code scheme and Turbo code scheme are proposed as channel coding schemes for AMR. At the same time, according to typical parameters for conformance test of AMR given in 3GPP specification TS 34.108, the specified AMR channel code scheme is also design. Above three channel coding schemes for AMR are integrated into 3GPP-FDD uplink platform. Through simulation, performances of different schemes are analyzed and proper channel coding scheme is selected.
