CFD simulation procedures and computational analyses of small vehicle turbocharger compressor

Abstract

The method and application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and analyses procedures in the solution of small vehicle turbocharger compressor flow is investigated. The key technologies that include how to import the geometry modeling, impeller mesh generation, the selection of flow computation modeling, the setting of boundary conditions, and convergence criteria of computation results are discussed and analyzed. The methods of CFD flow computation used in small vehicle turbocharger impeller geometry optimization design and performance prediction is presented. Furthermore the example of CFD application in gasoline car turbocharger compressor design is introduced, it is showed that this approach of CFD computation and analysis for the compressor impeller design is feasible and credible.
