Abstract

The lubrication of crank bearings have a large influence on engine operation. In this paper, CFD simulation of connecting-rod big-end bearing lubrication is given. The effect using different meshing schemes on the simulation result is discussed. Comparing the advantages and the disadvantages of the two software including HPERMESH and GAMBIT in meshing oil-film domain of journal bearings is conducted. For solving the negative pressure phenomenon, a simple method is given. Through modifying mesh model, the negative pressure phenomenon on simulation can be eliminated.
