Abstract

Nano-aluminum/nitrocellulose microspheres were fabricated using electrospray technique. Effects of solvent composition, nitrocellulose content and precursor concentration on the morphology and size distribution of the microspheres were investigated. The modified materials parameters were selected to generate RDX/nano-aluminum/nitrocellulose core-shell microspheres by electrospray with a coaxial needle. The morphology of core-shell microsphere was dependent on the relative ratio between the inner and outer flow rate as well as the applied voltage. For a system with a constant inner flow rate, there is an optimal range for the outer flow rate and the applied voltage.
