Abstract

The cage structure with enhanced heat transfer function is proposed to improve the temperature rise and heat dissipation issues caused by high bearing speed. By constructing the bearing temperature rise test system, the temperature of the traditional and functional cage bearings is tested. It is found that the functional cage reduced the temperature rise of the bearing by a maximum of 5.2 °C. Based on the field synergy theory, the temperature field, heat transfer performance, and flowability of the functional cage are analyzed. The oil fluidity and gas flow field of the functional cage bearing are researched. The research results indicate that compared to the traditional cage, the functional cage increases the heat transfer of the bearing chamber. The functional cage has the function of adjusting the fluid direction in the bearing chamber, enabling more oil to pass through the bearing chamber. More heat will be taken away and the heat generated by the bearing is decreased. It provides a new approach for the design of bearing cage with enhanced heat transfer performance and theoretical guidance for analysis.
