Abstract

The use of FDTD method is a popular technique employed in periodic structure simulations. This paper examines the implementation of split-filed FDTD and Spectral FDTD methods. Based on which an improved Spectral FDTD is proposed. While following distinctive schemes, these methods exhibit good accuracy in the results. Then based on the resource consumption and speed behaviour during the simulation, it is concluded that the improved Spectral FDTD saves considerable time compared with Spectral FDTD and these three methods are suitable for different occasions depending on the problem type and computing platform.
