Abstract
In this paper, Fresnel formula was implied to analyze the influence of incident angle on transmittance when light goes through the interface of two media. It was found that the transmittance of s-polarized light is always smaller than the p-polarized light and the decrement of s-polarized light is also faster than p-polarized light. Thus, the transmittance of s-polarized light is defined as the optimizing parameter of Fresnel lens. The optimal transmittance condition of prism was derived out by using Stokes' reversible relation, which was used for optimizing the structure of flat plate Fresnel lens. Finally, a comparative analysis on transmittance with different surface of Fresnel lens was made. It was found that the cylindrical and parabolic surfaces are ideal for designing curved Fresnel lenses.
