Abstract

The frequency offset between the transmitter and the receiver would severely impact the performance of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system and must be compensated. One of effective sampling frequency synchronous algorithms was proposed by H. Shafiee; however, when this original synchronous algorithm is used to the OFDM system with a large number of sub-carriers, the existence of residual phase rotation may badly degrade the performance of system. An improved sampling frequency synchronous algorithm is proposed in this paper. The novel algorithm presented here introduces the αβ filter to delete the residual phase rotation. The simulation results of applying this novel algorithm to China Mobile Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (CMMB) demonstrate that a 0.5dB~1dB performance gain can be obtained, compared with the original one.
