Abstract

In the optical measuring apparatus based on the TV camera, the image distortion usually occurs due to the defects of optical system design and manufacture or the distortion of the image sensor. For the common barrel distortion and pincushion distortion, this paper proposes an improved distortion correction algorithm based on the equivalent spherical surface, and processes the corrected image with bilinear interpolation, scaling and edge filling algorithm. This text uses actual images with barrel distortion and pincushion distortion to conduct an experiment which verifies that the proposed algorithm can not only efficiently correct the spherical distortion in the image, but also can ensure the integrity of its information and frame.
