Abstract

Real-time processing system is a very important part in the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system. It is necessary to assess the performance of a SAR real-time processing system comprehensively. An evaluation system is analyzed in this paper by classifying a real-time processing system into 3 types: single-node structure, serial structure and parallel structure. Several performance parameters are defined to assess the system performance, 4 parameters for processing unit: execution time, processing throughput ratio, speedup ratio and processor efficiency; 4 for processing system: number of processors, number of processing units, average processor load and standard deviation of the processor load. Based on a practical SAR real-time processing system, it is demonstrated that this evaluation system can comprehensively evaluate and effectively optimize the design of SAR real-time processing systems.
