abstract = "Wavelet transform is replacing Discrete Cosine Transform in the field of image compression. Lifting scheme is an alternative implementation of DWT. It requires fewer operations and provides in-place computation of the wavelet coefficients. This paper presents a method which implements 2-D lifting wavelet by FPGA. The result of simulation displays that lifting scheme needs less memory requirement and the result is the same as MATLAB's.",
