Abstract

In this study, an efficient and simple method to eliminate polarization mode dispersion (PMD) effects and inter-carrier interference (ICI) is proposed. The method is validated on a high-density dual-polarization wavelength division multiplex (WDM) system by simulation. Furthermore, we evaluate the Q factors for the WDM signals before and after our compensation algorithm, and the results indicate that the proposed algorithm can improve the Q factor by 2.4dB on average in long-distance optical fiber transmission.
