Abstract

The landing site decision has direct relation to the safe landing of a spacecraft. This paper presents an algorithm of safe site decision for spacecraft landing based on mathematical morphology. This algorithm uses Top-Hat and Bottom-Hat transform to detect the hazards like craters and rocks. The correctional skeletonization of the multiply connected domains is used to decide the optimal landing site and the safe landing radius. The simulation shows that the algorithm is useful.
