Aerodynamic interpolation for flight vehicles with aerodynamic axial-asymmetry

Abstract

The interpolation methods of wind-tunnel test data for flight vehicle with aerodynamic axial-asymmetry was studied. As the total angles of attack are located in different roll plane, the corresponding aerodynamic coefficients will be different. For obtaining aerodynamic coefficients related to the total angle of attack orientation, the proper schemes of wind-tunnel test for different aerodynamic roll angles were selected and trigonometric series with respect to the roll angle were used for aerodynamic coefficient interpolation. A simple and effective scheme of wind-tunnel test and an accurate aerodynamic interpolation function of axial-symmetrical flight vehicle are given with satisfactory results.
