Abstract

This paper presents a wideband tri-polarized antenna with a center frequency of 2.4 GHz. The antenna consists of a dual-polarized double-layer microstrip antenna and a printed monopole antenna. The antenna has three ports to produce three mutually orthogonal polarizations (X-axis, Y-axis, Z-axis). Measured results show that VSWR is less than 2 from 2.3 to 2.5 GHz and the isolation among these ports is above 22dB. At 2.4 GHz, the gain is greater than 7.6dBi when the polarization is along the X-axis and Y-axis, the gain is 0.3dBi when the polarization is along the Z-axis. The antenna has a simple structure and is suitable for array application.
