A two pattern combined method to detect water area from SAR remote image

Abstract

To the characteristic of water area in SAR image, a two pattern combined method based on morphology and entropy algorithm is proposed to detect water area from SAR image. The first step is to detect outline of water area and reduce speckle noise by using mathematical morphology method. Then the water area is detected exactly combining improved entropy algorithm. The result of experiments show that, this method can detect water area from SAR image effectually, also can improve process speed effectively than entropy method.
