Abstract

Long multi-walled carbon nanotubes can be easily cut into supershort multi-walled carbon nanotubes and these super short tubes can assemble into longer tubes in 1 mol/L of sulfuric acid solution and 10% of hydrogen peroxide after 48 hours. The assembled tubes have the length of about 50-800 nm and super short carbon nanotubes have the lengths of about 8-15 nm. It is shown by infrared and elemental analyses that no chemical functional groups are connected to nanotubes.
