A Ripple Suppression Method Applied to Flywheel Energy Storage System

Abstract

The Flywheel energy storage system (FESS) is becoming more and more attractive due to its broad application prospects. The practical application of FESS faces the problem of rotor heating caused by high frequency harmonics of PWM inverter, especially in medium and high speed systems, which seriously restricts the performance of the system. In this paper, a suppression method of high frequency ripple based on capacitor isolated ripple compensation inverter is proposed. The operating principle of the circuit is analyzed and the control method based on this circuit is designed. Finally, simulations are built to demonstrate the validity of the analysis.
