Abstract

This work presents an optimum approach to design PI controllers of permanent magnetic brushless DC motor (PBLDCM) to solve the traditional shortcomings of the existing PI algorithm. The primary design goal is to optimize the transient response by minimizing the maximum overshoot, settling time, rise time of step response. This study proposes a non-liner PI controller based on ant colony system (ACS) to determine the parameters of the PI controller for getting a well performance for given motor. Simulation results in MATLAB/SIMULINK demonstrate that better control performance can be achieved in comparison with than traditional PI control methods.
